Storyhouse Young Company Writer
Storyhouse is seeking a freelance writer to commission and develop an original new work with the Storyhouse Young Company as part of Storyhouse’s 10th anniversary celebrations and the 2027 training programme.
Storyhouse Young Company (SYC) is a free training scheme for 18–25-year-olds developing their performance and creative practice.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse group of emerging young artists to create an ambitious, contemporary new piece of theatre. We are looking for experienced writers with a strong track record of working with and for diverse groups of young people.
The writer will facilitate a series of research and development workshops with the Young Company and wider participant groups to develop the stimulus and creative foundation for the final piece.
The role will be based at Storyhouse, Chester, with some R&D workshops in Blacon, Lache, and Winsford. The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
Fee: £4000 (inclusive fee)
This fee covers the full commission, including development and delivery of the script, attendance at script development meetings, ad hoc rehearsal attendance, and all associated travel expenses.
